As a collegiate athlete, MaKayla prioritizes her health and wellness through consistent physical activity and intentional self-care. She maintains an active lifestyle through cheerleading while focusing on proper nutrition, recovery, and daily movement. She also supports her mental well-being through journaling and positive affirmations, allowing her to stay balanced, energized, and prepared for the demands of both academics and competition.

MaKayla is not only a performer on the Miss America stage, but also a collegiate cheerleader and dance teacher. She performs at athletic events and in her community while also teaching and mentoring young dancers in the studio. These experiences allow her to share her passion for performance, build confidence in others, and expand her impact both on and off the stage.

MaKayla has been involved in the Miss America Opportunity from a young age, previously holding the title of Miss Monroe County’s Outstanding Teen 2022. Through her time in the program, she has grown both personally and professionally while earning more than $10,000 in scholarship dollars.
